Project Description
Shamsa Abubakar Fadhil, affectionately called ‘Mama Shamsa’, is a Kenyan peace mediator and community organiser who was honoured in 2023 by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity. She has been instrumental in guiding the youth of her country away from violence, crime, and extremism through her compassionate approach, offering them counselling, support, and essential training for a brighter future.
Our film provides an intimate and candid portrayal of Mama Shamsa and the unwavering love that has helped her transform her community.
This film was produced for the 2023 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity and won a Silver Dolphin at Cannes Dolphin Awards 2024.
