Sir Professor Dr Magdi Yacoub is a world-leading heart surgeon and former professor of cardiothoracic surgery. His pioneering work has advanced cardiac care worldwide, saving countless lives and shaping medical science. In 2014, he founded the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Foundation, which has since treated nearly 400,000 underprivileged patients.

In 2024, Dr Yacoub was honoured by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in recognition of his lifelong contributions to the field of heart surgery. In this tender portrait, created for the Award, viewers have the chance meet him, and understand what drives him to further his life-changing work.
